On Monday, a photo posted to Reddit of a little's girl's "terrible" birthday cake went viral, receiving tons of mockery online. But as it turns out, the Queen Elsa cake from the Disney movie 'Frozen' was created by a charity to lift the spirits of sick children.
Originally posted to Reddit with the title 'the cake that was ordered and the cake that arrived,' the picture was shared and commented on thousands of times. The picture shows a side-by-side comparison of the advertised cake created by McGreevy Cakes, a cake-decorating website out of Akron, New York.
The Queen Elsa cake was meant for a little girl's birthday party but instead of a pretty, icy blonde-haired, fair complexion version, Elsa had strange, bright yellow hair made with heavy icing and overly tanned skin with wide-set eyes. The cake was created by a volunteer for Icing Smiles, a nonprofit organization based in Maryland. The company posted their response to the criticism on Facebook.
Lisa Randolph-Grant, the woman that made the cake for the party, also responded.
Reddit and the original poster OfficialBigHead have not commented.
