12-foot python shows up on doorstep of South Florida home

Residents in South Florida got quite the shock when a 12-foot-long python decided to slither into the neighborhood looking for a place to party during the 4th of July weekend.

"When I was with my dad and when I seen it, I jumped off my bike and ran. I was scared. I never seen that before," said witness Juan Rivero Jr.

The gigantic snake showed up in the Miami-Dade County neighborhood on Friday, sending residents into panic mode.

"I look and it's on the lady's porch and it was huge, and I said, 'Oh my God, it's a python.' And the head was bigger than my hand," said another witness.

A couple of  quick-thinking neighbors used the lid of a barbecue grill to coax the reptile into a pillow case.

Officials were called and hauled the snake away.
