FHP: Motorcylcist speeding before fatal crash

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal wreck involving a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist had just left a biker awareness meeting Sunday night when he slammed into a Jeep at the corner of East Vine Street and Nebraska Avenue in Kissimmee.

Officials say that, moments before the crash, a Kissimmee police officer tried to stop the motorcyclist for speeding.

However, the motorcyclist allegedly did not pull over and the officer lost sight of him.

Heartbroken members with the "Fly-N-Ryderz" motorcycle club stared at the mangled bike in disbelief.

They said the bike belonged to Juan "Banks" Irizarry.

"We build a lot of memories and we are a big family and today, it's just horrible," said Alex, Fly-n-Ryderz club member.

The motorcyclist was on the way home from a biker awareness meeting about safety when a police officer tried to stop him for speeding.

Angelika Quinones said just before the crash the biker came barreling toward her mom's Jeep.

They were just about to turn onto Nebraska Avenue.

"We were already out there, so I couldn't do nothing," said Angelika Quinones, crash victim.

"It was so intense, as if they were trying to speed or whatnot," said Gustavo Alvira, Kissimmee resident.

Quinones said her mom, Priscilla, and her mom's boyfriend were taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center. They are expected to be OK.

"She had glass all over her, and her boyfriend was in the front seat, so I think he got stitches in his foot," said Quinones.

The front passenger door was bashed in and the motorcycle was torn apart.

Banks' friends would not talk about the possibility he may have been speeding.

He was wearing a helmet, but was killed instantly because the impact was so violent.

"We lost a good friend a brother," said club rider, Alex.

Detectives said it will take a couple of days to figure out what happened and who was at fault.
