Deputies investigating violent home invasion at Deltona home

DELTONA, Fla. — Two masked intruders stormed a home late Thursday in Deltona, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

The armed men walked into an open garage shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Digarmo Terrace near Saxon and Providence boulevards, Sheriff's Office spokesman Gary Davidson said.

The intruders confronted a 19-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, whom they pistol whipped, before entering the interior of the home, Davidson said.

Deputies said the boy's head was cut, so had to be taken to a hospital for treatment, but he has since been released.

While going through the home, deputies said the intruders confronted an 18-year-old man. They said a struggle ensued and one of the guns went off, lodging a bullet into a wall.

The intruders fled the home and remain at large, Davidson said.

"We're still investigating to ascertain whether anything was taken," Davidson said. "But detectives have determined that this wasn't a random incident."

The identities of the people involved weren't immediately released.

The incident remains under investigation.
