Brightline extends Orlando to West Palm Beach service suspension to Wednesday

Flooding in Brevard County continues to disrupt service; trains between West Palm Beach and Miami are operating normally

ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline has extended its suspension of train service between Orlando and West Palm Beach until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, because of flooding in Brevard County.

The company announced the extension Tuesday evening, citing high water along the rail corridor. Service will resume when conditions allow trains to move safely through the area.

The disruption comes as flooding has closed roads across parts of Brevard County.

Which Brightline routes are affected?

Trains between Orlando and West Palm Beach are canceled during the suspension.

Service connecting West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami continues to operate normally, Brightline said.

What must happen before trains resume?

Maintenance personnel are on scene, and rail infrastructure teams are monitoring conditions with Florida East Coast Railway and Brevard County Emergency Management.

Brightline said water levels must recede, necessary repairs must be completed, and tracks, signals and crossings must be inspected before passenger service resumes.

The company has not guaranteed that trains will restart at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

What should affected passengers do?

Brightline said it will contact passengers with affected reservations directly about their travel options.

Travelers should check GoBrightline.com, the Brightline app and the company’s social media accounts for updates.
