ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida will be hot Friday as storm chances continue to be high.
Our area will have a 70% chance of afternoon rain and showers.
The increased rain chances are being fueled by a front that is drawing tropical moisture into the state.
Before the afternoon storms get started, our average high temperature should reach the upper 80s.
Some storms could be strong with clusters of lightning.
If you’re headed to the coast this weekend, be safe in the water because the rip current risk will be high.
Channel 9 meteorologists are monitoring Tropical Storm Fiona, which will be moving into the Caribbean on Friday night. The storm will be close to Puerto Rico on Saturday.
Life-threatening flooding will be the major issue for the islands.
Fiona is projected to curl to the north near the Southern Bahamas early next week.
Most indications keep the storm east of Florida by the middle of next week.
