ORLANDO, Fla. — Cristobal has weakened to a tropical depression and is expected to continue losing strength as it moves into an increasingly hostile environment.
Forecasters expect Cristobal to fizzle out later Thursday as unfavorable conditions, including increasing wind shear, take their toll on the system.
Attention now turns to two other tropical waves moving across the Atlantic.
Invest 92L has a decent chance of developing over the next 24 to 48 hours.
If it does develop, it is expected to remain a relatively weak system, likely reaching tropical depression strength.
As 92L approaches the Caribbean, significant wind shear is expected to limit its ability to strengthen. That shear could also disrupt or tear apart the system.
Farther out over the Atlantic, Invest 94L currently has a 50% chance of developing over the next seven days.
For Central Florida, there are no immediate tropical threats from any of these systems. However, meteorologists will continue to monitor the Atlantic disturbances through the upcoming weekend.
The next two names on the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season list are Dolly and Edouard.
