Grammys CEO defends nominations for Marilyn Manson, Louis C.K.

This week’s Grammy nominations earned a few raised eyebrows over two controversial choices - singer Marilyn Manson and comedian Louis C.K.

Despite allegations of sexual assault and abusive behavior, Manson earned a nomination for his work on the Kanye West album Donda. Louis C.K. was nominated for Best Comedy Album despite his 2017 sexual misconduct scandal.

Record Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. defended the nominations, telling The Wrap “We won’t look back at people’s history, we won’t look at their criminal record”.

He added “We’re not going to be in the business of restricting people from submitting their work for our voters to decide on”.
