Giant Burmese python captured swimming a mile off the Florida coast

Biscayne Bay, Fla. — Move over jaws, scientists from Biscayne National Park spotted a giant Burmese python swimming about a mile off the coast of Biscayne Bay last week.

Biologists caught the 11-footer in a net so they could safely removed the reptile.

They estimate the snake weighed 31 pounds!

Park officials posted a video on their Facebook page showing the capture and encouraged everyone to report pythons and other invasive creatures to officials.
