A bird in Florida is able to eat again after rescuers freed it from a pair of black underwear that had gotten wrapped around its beak.
The bird, an anhinga, was first spotted last Thursday in Satellite Beach, according to Wild Florida Rescue. Although workers made several attempts to remove the undergarment from the bird’s beak, it kept flying away whenever someone got close to it, the rescue group reports.
The anhinga was finally nabbed on Sunday when a rescue worker sneaked up behind it and threw a net over it, video of the incident reveals. As he held the bird, another man cut the underwear from its beak, the video shows. Wild Florida Rescue officials say they believe someone had deposited the underwear in the water, where the anhinga -- which is also known as a darter -- got tangled up in the garment.
