ORLANDO, Fla. — Hurricane Larry remains a major hurricane in the Atlantic. Read updates below:

11 p.m. update

There isn’t a lot of time for the disturbance in the golf to actually develop into an organized system before making landfall late Wednesday night in the Florida Panhandle, Channel 9 Certified Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry said.

However, the disturbance does have a narrow window of opportunity to do just this as it approaches landfall late tomorrow.

Terry said the center is expected to move near the I-10 corridor through southeast Georgia into Thursday afternoon.

5:45 p.m. update

Hurricane Larry will stay far off our coast, but waves along Central Florida’s coastline will build up over the next three days.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for the risk of dangerous rip currents through Friday.

Meteorologist George Waldenberger said a disorganized disturbance does have a chance of forming into a tropical depression or even a named storm (Mindy) over the northeast Gulf of Mexico.

“Either way though, mainly just a wetter forecast for Central Florida and many of us could use rain,” he said.

11 a.m. update

A tropical storm watch was issued for Bermuda as Hurricane Larry nears the island.

Forecasters said Larry should pass east of Bermuda on Thursday.

The storm’s winds are near 115 mph.

Larry is expected to gradually weaken over the next several days, but for now, it remains a large hurricane.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles.

5 a.m. update

The National Hurricane Center said hurricane hunters will investigate Larry later this morning.

The storm is expected to cause dangerous surf and rip currents along western Atlantic shores later this week.

Maximum sustained winds are near 120 mph, with higher gusts. Larry is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind scale.

Larry is expected to gradually weaken over the next several days. It is a large hurricane.
