Toddler accidentally shoots 12-year-old cousin in Alabama, police say

MOBILE, Ala. — A toddler accidentally shot his 12-year-old cousin after finding a handgun in an Alabama home, authorities said.

According to The Associated Press, the incident occurred Wednesday evening in Mobile. The victim’s mother said her 2-year-old nephew discovered the gun, which discharged, striking her son, the AP reported.

The 12-year-old was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The victim’s mother said another son, who is 19, owned the gun, police said.
