Officials: Two people arrested for allegedly burying over 20 pounds of meth in a Nebraska field

NORFOLK, Neb. — Two people were arrested for allegedly burying over 20 pounds of meth in a Nebraska field on Wednesday.

According to a news release from the Nebraska State Patrol, the incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday after residents in Winside, Nebraska reported two suspicious people going through their property.

Troopers made contact with the suspicious individuals and learned that they were both in possession of drugs that were suspected to be methamphetamine, according to KETV. Troopers conducted a search of the area and found a handgun and a cattle prod that was allegedly stolen from another farm.

NSP identified the suspects as Oscar Villa, 36, and Johana Madrid, 27.

NSP said that while they were trying to confirm the cattle prod theft, the owner told them they had found a bag in a truck where the cattle prod was stored. In the bag, the troopers found about one-half pound of suspected meth.

According to KETV, troopers learned that a bigger amount of meth was buried in a field near where they found Villa and Madrid. The troopers searched the area and found a bag with about 20 pounds of suspected meth plus three grams of suspected fentanyl.

Villa and Madrid were both arrested. Both NSP said are from California. Villa has been charged with making terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, use of a firearm to commit a felony and other additional charges. Madrid was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft, according to NSP.
