Texas Deputy AG apologizes for calling Simone Biles a ‘national embarrassment’

A high-ranking Texas official has apologized for calling Simone Biles a ‘national embarrassment’ on Twitter.

On Tuesday, Texas Deputy Attorney General Aaron Reitz sent a tweet comparing former Olympian Kerri Strug to “our selfish, childish national embarrassment, Simone Biles”.

But by Wednesday, Reitz had deleted the tweet and apologized, chalking his comment up to “a moment of frustration and disappointment”.

He wrote “Simone Biles is a true patriot and one of the greatest gymnasts of our time. I apologize to her, and wish her well.”
