A New Jersey teacher has been suspended after he reportedly told a Muslim student, “We don’t negotiate with terrorists,” school officials say.
Although officials at Ridgefield Memorial High School have refused to identify the teacher, they’ve released a statement in which they say they have “absolutely no tolerance for any sort of discrimination against any student or staff member.”
The incident reportedly happened last week when senior Mohammed Zubi asked the teacher to extend the deadline for a homework assignment, Zubi says. The teacher’s response was heard by the entire class and another teacher, according to reports. Zubi says the teacher later approached him and said he “didn’t mean it like that.”
