A Manatee County sheriff’s deputy is recovering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle during an arrest.

The dramatic scene was captured on video from a sheriff’s office chase helicopter overhead.

The driver, 23-year-old Katarina Vanfossen was eventually taken into custody and charged with second degree attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, among other crimes.

The Manatee County sheriff’s office reports the unidentified deputy was released from the hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.
