Masks not required at upcoming OC Republican Convention

The Orange County Republican Executive Committee is planning to meet in-person with an estimated 114 people for its annual U.S. Grant Republican Victory Convention Saturday in Orlando at the Rosen Plaza Hotel.

“We are not going to shame anyone for wearing a mask, we are not going shame anyone for not wearing a mask,” said Orange County Republican Chairman Charles Hart.

Hart said they have engaged in a variety of different safety measures, from double temperature checks to social distancing and tables being far apart.

The event was postponed back in March due to COVID-19. Orlando Democratic State Rep. Anna Eskamani thinks they should host the convention online.

“If it is going to continue, I ask that everyone be as patriotic as possible in wearing a mask,” Eskamani said.

Marc Lotter, director of strategic communications for President Trump’s reelection campaign, will headline the event.
