Chinese man finds rare giant salamander

South Chinese park ranger, "Mr. Xiao," caught an extremely rare twelve pound Chinese salamander---the world's largest living amphibian.

The animal is on the Red List of threatened species.

The 'Living Fossil' dates back more than 170 million years, and its appearance has barely changed since the Jurassic Period.

Mr. Xiao found the rare creature swimming in the water, put it in a temporary tank, and then released it back into the wild.
