Missing elderly woman with Alzheimer’s found in Volusia County pond beneath overpass

An elderly woman with Alzheimer’s disease was reunited with her family Sunday after she was found Sunday lying in a swampy area beneath a busy Volusia County road.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office chase helicopter recorded the woman’s rescue.

The sheriff’s office later said the unidentified woman was reported missing around 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

She was conscious and alert when deputies found her. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.
