Where to get free sandbags for hurricane season in Central Florida

Orlando, FL — Local leaders want the community to be ready for the peak of hurricane season.

Free self-serve sandbag services are open in both Orange and Seminole counties this week.

Here’s where:

Orange County:

  • Barnett Park - 4801 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando (8 a.m. until 8 p.m. )
  • Downey Park - 10107 Flowers Avenue, Orlando (8 a.m. until 8 p.m.)
  • Bithlo Community Park - 18501 Washington Avenue, Orlando (8 a.m. until 8 p.m. )
  • Meadow Woods Park - 1751 Rhode Island Woods Circle, Orlando (8 a.m. until 8 p.m. )
  • West Orange Recreational Complex - 309 S. West Crown Point Road, Winter Garden (8 a.m. until 8 p.m., opens 1 p.m. on Sundays)

Seminole County:

  • Sanford Public Works Facility - 800 W. Fulton St. (Wed. 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. )
  • Boombah Seminole County Sports Complex - East Lake Mary Boulevard, Sanford (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Oviedo Public Works Maintenance Yard - 1725 Evans St. (Thu. & Fri 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Brevard County:

  • Eastern Florida State College, Palm Bay campus, 250 Community College Parkway SE.
  • Calvary Chapel, Melbourne, Viera campus, 2852 Fellowship Place.
  • Mitchell Ellington Park, 575 West Hall Road, Merritt Island.
  • Chain of Lakes Park, 2300 Truman Scarborough Way, Titusville.
