Weather conditions delay SpaceX crew launch until Friday

Cape Canaveral, Fla. — SpaceX and NASA on Wednesday postponed its next astronaut launch because of dangerous off shore winds and high waves in the recovery zone.

Liftoff is now scheduled for 5:49 a.m Friday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, when more favorable weather is expected.

“Although the weather is probably going to look great here at the launch site, we’re worried about those downrange winds and wave heights in case of an abort,” said Kennedy Space Center director, Robert Cabana.

The four astronauts from the U.S., France and Japan are scheduled to spend six months at the International Space Station.

This will be SpaceX’s third launch of astronauts for NASA in less than a year.
