Vice President Kamala Harris speaks at sorority convention in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Vice President Kamala Harris visited Orlando on Thursday.

She arrived at the Orange County Convention Center at 11 a.m. for the annual gathering of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.

After speaking at the conference, Harris held a roundtable on reproductive rights with Florida lawmakers.

The conversation comes three weeks after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, leaving states to decide if abortion is legal.

The House is set to vote on Friday on two bills aimed at boosting abortion rights.

The “Ensuring Access to Abortion Act” would protect a woman’s right to travel to seek an abortion.

The “Women’s Health Protection Act” would restore the federal right to abortion.

The bills are not expected to win the 10 Republican votes needed to pass the Senate.

Harris also headed to Tampa, where she meet with service members and received a briefing from several U.S. officials.
