UCF students return to in-person classes for the 1st time in almost a year

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Thousands of UCF students headed back to in-person classes for the start of the fall semester Monday.

For many students the fall semester means a new beginning.

“I’m excited to live a real college experience,” said sophomore Allie Allians.

Students like Isabel Latorre-Rheos said while she feels safe returning she will take precautions.

“I’m going to be wearing my mask, especially in the classroom to prevent the spread of the virus” she said.

Despite the recent surge in coronavirus cases the university is returning to its pre-pandemic policies, but is still encouraging students to take precautions.

To that end, UCF has started a coronavirus protection campaign called Armor Up.

The program encourages students to wear masks when indoors and to get vaccinated.

Students can quickly sign up for vaccination appointments using QR codes on signs across campus.

While students can always go to the health center for vaccination, doses will also be available all week long during the welcome week Pegasus Palooza events.
