UCF professor talks controversy surrounding Disney ride

A popular ride at two Disney theme parks is generating a lot of buzz this week on social media, but not because of the ride’s excitement.

News 96.5 WDBO reported this week on the controversy surrounding Disney's Splash Mountain.  More specifically, Disney's Song of the South, released in 1946.

I wanted to learn more about the original literary work that Disney’s Song of the South was based on, so I found a professor from the University of Central Florida.

Lynn Casmier-Paz is an English professor at UCF who specializes in African American Slave Narratives.

Typically, a phone interview for a radio story should only take a few minutes, but my conversation with Casmier-Paz ran over 20 minutes.  I found it so interesting I decided to share the interview in its entirety.
