Tropical depression could become a named storm later tonight

Orlando, Fla. — Tropical Depression 10 has formed in the central Atlantic and is forecasted to become Tropical Storm Imelda later Tuesday night.

Meteorologist Krizia Negron with the National Weather Service in Melbourne  says the system is already packing max sustained winds of 35 miles per hour.

“We’re in the peak of hurricane system, so right now we cannot say yes or no that it will effect Florida,” Negron said.

As of the 11 a.m. advisory, the National Hurricane Center tracks TD 10  moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph and will approach the northern Leeward Islands by the end of the work week.
