Timber Creek High School shifts to virtual learning after 14 COVID-19 cases reported

Orange County, Fla. — Timber Creek High School has become the latest Orange County Public School to close due to the coronavirus among students and staff, according to the school district.

The entire school will pivot to LaunchEd@Home, beginning Thursday October 22. Online learning will last through Nov. 5.

“Most of the positive cases have been traced back to events in the community that are now impacting our school,” Principal Kelly Paduano said in an email to staff members and parents.She said the campus will be cleaned and disinfected.

The Florida Department of Health will offer free coronavirus testing for students and staff members, but details have not yet been released.

The school district said there will be no athletic events or extracurricular activities with the exception of varsity football.

The school will not be serving meals during its two-week closure.
