Thankful to be alive, shelter dog needs a break

TAVARES, Florida — A 5-year-old Staffordshire terrier mix is thankful to be alive and is recovering at Umatilla Animal Hospital from parvovirus, which is highly contagious and is spread from dog to dog by direct or indirect contact with their feces.

Now Nacho needs a home for the holidays, a foster home or someone to adopt him, in order to keep him from returning to the Lake County Animal Shelter until he is healthy.

His treatment was funded by LEASH, Inc.

The shelter says Nacho’s recovery has been ”nothing short of miraculous.” Contact Rescue Coordinator Chris Sizemore at 352-343-9688 if you are able to open your home for the holidays to Nacho.
