A $5,000 reward is now being offered for information into a suspected gang-related shooting that left two teenagers injured Saturday in Orange County.
Deputies say, a 14-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy were shot around 4:30 p.m. at the American Veterans Post on Ferguson Drive during a wedding ceremony.
Deputies said both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Sheriff John Mina said he believes the shooting is tied to gang violence that has escalated in the county in recent months.
Investigators said it’s possible the shooting was retaliation for a shooting at the Mall at Millennia days earlier, where a local rapper with alleged ties to a gang was the target.
According to the Sheriff’s office, there has been 139 shootings in Orange County injuring 96 people. 14 of those 96 victims were younger than 18 years old.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Crimeline at 800-423-8477. All calls are confidential and callers remain anonymous.
