Orlando prepares to host College bowl games amid pandemic

Orlando, Fla — Beginning this Saturday, December 26, Orlando’s Camping World Stadium will play host to several college football bowl games.

Each game will limit fans to try and prevent the spread of COVID-19, a number of safety guidelines will also be in place, but thousands of people are still expected to attend the games.

On Saturday, Coastal Carolina plays Liberty in the Cure Bowl. Then, on Dec. 29, Miami and Oklahoma State face off in the Cheez It Bowl and then, Auburn takes on Northwestern in the VRBO Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day.

Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan;

“Really excited to provide a safe outdoor atmosphere for folks who are going to be socially distance throughout.”

Hogan said the bowl games will also mean more exposure for the city of Orlando and Central Florida.

“Each game will have a direct economic impact on our community, on our hotels, the real story still will be a national broadcast audience,” Hogan said. Florida Citrus Sports expects 10,000 fans at the Cheez It Bowl and the Citrus Bowl, where the stadium will be at 20-25% capacity.

The Orlando Sports Foundation, which host the annual Cure Bowl said it’s expecting about 4,800 people.
