Orlando police provide update on officer-involved shooting near OIA

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place at the 3100 block of Cashmere Driver near Port Royal Drive, east of Boggy Creek Road and west of the Orlando International Airport.

A veteran in his 70′s called the 211 crisis hotline to report that he needed help and that he was thinking of committing suicide.

He also said that if police showed up to his home that “there would be blood.”

Details on what exactly happened are still unclear, but Sheriff John Mina stated that the man made threatening remarks towards the officers with a gun in his hand.

Law enforcement were forced to shoot the individual.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

The sheriff’s office says more details will come out once the FDLE complete their investigation.
