ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — State leaders plan to reveal new details about the investigation into a teenager’s death on a thrill ride in Orange County.
Tyre Sampson, 14, died during his spring break trip this year when he fell from the free-fall ride at Icon Park.
Lawmakers are pushing to make thrill rides safer, so this never happens again.
The drop-tower ride has been closed since the teen’s death, nearly eight months ago.
Florida agriculture commissioner Nikki Fried is filing a complaint against the ride’s owner.
Fried plans to share new details about the investigation on Tuesday.
Lawmakers released a draft proposal to strengthen the state’s safety regulations for amusement park rides.
They call for stricter signage requirements, training, safety systems and random inspections.
