Orange County CARES Act Portal closes 32 minutes after opening

Orange County, Fla. — It only took less than an hour for the Orange County CARES Act Portal to reach capacity Monday morning.

The portal opened at 8 a.m. and at 8:32 a.m., Orange County tweeted: " OrangeCoFL’s CARES Act for Individual & Families Program has reached its 15,000-user capacity, and is now closed for 11/16."

Initially, the $1,000 grant through the county’s Individual and Family Assistance Program was limited to one per household, but Mayor Demings loosened that restriction, allowing resident to apply for the grant, even if someone in their household had already been receiving finances.

During a news conference, Demings said all applications were successfully submitted and that they will review them and determine when the portal can reopen. He went on to say that the county had several million dollars that had not been used yet, and they have until December 30th to use it.
