Orlando, Fla. — Orange County leaders rolled out a plan to vaccinate older residents at the Convention Center beginning Tuesday December 29.
The Orange County Department of Health began administering shots to EMT’s and paramedics at the County Convention Center on Saturday.
In a Monday afternoon news conference, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings unveiled plans to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to residents 65 years of age and older. Demings said the vaccination site will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
He said, the Convention Center will be closed New Year’s Day and will reopen on Monday January 4, 2021. He said the goal is to vaccinate 1,500 people per day.
Mr. Demings and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer received Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine during the news conference.
Residents can register at OCFL.net/vaccines, where you can also sign up for email updates about vaccine distribution in the county.
I joined @OCFLMayor today to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and urge each person in our city to get it as soon as it becomes available to them. I'm confident in the guidance of medical professionals and got the vaccine to keep my loved ones and others safe from the virus. pic.twitter.com/HAR1eqRxQU
