The NBA Disney Bubble officially returns for G League 2021 season

Orlando, Fla. — What started out as a way for NBA teams to finish out their season during the first year of the pandemic has now returned in 2021.

According to a tweet from Shams Charania, Senior lead NBA Insider for the Athletic and Stadium, the NBA G League( the minor league basketball organization) will play their 2021 season in a bubble environment at Disney’s Wide World of Sports near Orlando in February. The top eight teams will reportedly advance to single elimination Playoff.

According to CBS, the teams will arrive at the bubble in Orlando on January 26th. Then, opening night will occur on February 8th followed by the playoffs from March 5th through the 9th. However, one issue that is raising some concern is how the guests staying at the resorts will be impacted by the teams that will also be heading there to compete.

Last year, the parks were temporarily closed and the resort hotels were not as busy, so last year’s teams had no problem being kept there. As of now, Disney has not released a statement addressing the guests and the NBA games. However, it is important to note that the only hotel that is accepting bookings around the time of the playoffs is Disney’s All Star Movies Resort, which reopens on March 22nd. This of course is scheduled to change, so be sure to check back for updates.
