Man shot after firing crossbow at deputies

A man was shot by deputies after allegedly shooting at them with a crossbow during a standoff at a home near SeaWorld Wednesday morning.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings says a deputy could easily have been killed.

Deputies were called to the Sacramento Court home in Williamsburg after someone said the man brandished a gun and a crossbow.

Witnesses told Channel 9 Timothy Kochlany pulled out the weapons and threatened a lawn care worker because he didn't want his grass cut.

Sheriff Demings says Kochlany also assaulted his 18-year-old daughter inside the home.

When deputies arrived, Kochlany barricaded himself inside the home and fired the crossbow at deputies and was shot as they returned fire.

Kochlany was taken by ambulance to an Orlando hospital.

Demings says Kochlany has a record, "served time in prison and has some sort of mental health disorder."

Kochlany faces aggravated assault charges and domestic violence charges.
