Police arrested 37-year-old Daniel Dinkins last week after he broke into a home in Ocala.
Investigators say the man claimed to be a time traveler and needed to save the victims from a future dangerous event.
The victims say they were woken up by a loud sound and heard the baby crying. When they got to the baby’s room, they saw the window had been broken, a bassinet tipped over, and a brick on the floor.
As police began canvasing the neighborhood, they came across a home with the front door open. They then made contact with Dinkins, who claimed he was responsible for the burglary down the street and explained that he was trying to “save the baby from something way in the future when the child is much older,”
The suspect also admitted that he took a swim in the victim’s pool.
Dinkins is being charged with felony burglary of an occupied dwelling.
