Florida TaxWatch releases 2020 budget report

Florida TaxWatch is out with their annual report on Florida’s budget.

The Budget Turkey Watch Report is an annual independent review of the budget.  The report highlights appropriations included in the budget that weren't properly vetted.

President and CEO Dominc Calabro explains their “budget turkeys” were not approved in committee.

“Those items that don’t go through that process will get ahead and then take away money for projects that did go through the process...kind of unAmerican, “ said Calabro.

In this year’s report, Florida TaxWatch identified 180 different appropriations items worth $163.3 million identified as “Budget Turkeys.”

The watchdog group is calling for Governor Ron DeSantis to veto those appropriations.
