Florida reports a record number of COVID-19 deaths. But when did those deaths actually occur?

The Department of Health provides a line list of coronavirus-related fatalities that provide more information about the daily report.

Orlando, Fl. — Florida is reporting its highest coronavirus daily death toll, with 217 deaths recorded since Tuesday morning.

But the data released each day by the Department of Health does not necessarily show what occurred during the previous 24 hours.

On the DOH coronavirus dashboard, it specifies that death data often has significant delays in reporting. To best understand Florida’s daily fatality report, read the State Line List.

To find the State Line List, go to the Department of Health COVID-19 statistics page, which you can find by clicking here.

Scroll down below the Data and Surveillance Dashboard. Beneath the link to the dashboard is another link that says ‘See State Line List.'

Once you download the PDF, you can see the most current numbers (as of about 11:50 a.m. each day).

The U.S. leads the world both in cases and deaths.
