Deputies: Girl, 9, shot in Orange County after getting access to unsecured firearm

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 9-year-old girl was hospitalized Friday after Orange County deputies said she was accidentally shot after finding an unsecured firearm.

Deputies said the shooting happened in the 1800 block of Powers Drive, and a family member drove the girl to Arnold Palmer hospital just after midnight.

Deputies said the girl is expected to recover from her injuries.

The investigation into how the girl gained access to the gun is active and ongoing.
