Central Florida theme parks begin relaxing mask requirements

Orlando, Fla. — In response to the latest recommendations from the CDC, which states that fully vaccinated people can go mask-free while in outdoor places, Central Florida’s theme parks have begun to update their face mask policies.

Universal Orlando has announced that masks will no longer be required outside of their theme parks. However, face masks will still be required in all indoor locations, which include restaurants, shops, and queue lines for rides from the moment you step in to the moment you leave.

Disney World has also followed similar measures, stating that face covering are optional in outdoor common areas of the park as well as pool decks, but are still required in all indoor locations and all transportation, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing. Neck gaiters, open chin triangle bandanas and face covering containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are still not allowed. Disney has also said that starting on Sunday, they will stop giving temperature checks to guests, although there are reports that they have ended early in some parks since masks are no longer required outdoors.

Seaworld Orlando has taken things a step further and stated that fully vaccinated guests will not be required to wear a face mask at Seaworld, Aquatica Orlando, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens, and Adventure Island. They will also not require proof of vaccination, but instead ask guests to “respectfully comply” with the updated policy. However, employees at Seaworld will still have to wear face masks.
