Texas hospital reports 1st case of ‘Lambda’ variant of COVID-19

Yet another coronavirus variant has arrived in the U.S.

This week, a hospital in Texas confirmed its first case of the ‘Lambda’ variant, which first appeared in Peru and spread across South America.

Not much is known yet about the Lambda variant, and how it compares to the highly contagious Delta variant - which now accounts for more than 83 percent of COVID-19 cases in the U.S.
