Florida is seeing record-breaking numbers of people filing for unemployment in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Before this current time, the last record had taken place in 2009 during the Great Recession.
As the Orlando Business Journal writes:
Across the U.S., a total of nearly 3.3 million people applied for unemployment benefits during the week, up from about 3 million the week prior.
The previous high was set during 1982 at nearly 700,000."
To make matters worse, the current stats don’t even include the shut down of non-essential businesses just ordered by Orange and Osceola counties.
