Oh, What A Night

By WDBO's Scott Anez

During a long NBA season, you're gonna have games that make ya go, "What the flippity-jip was that?".

You're gonna see performances that just don't jive with the talent on the floor.

You're gonna have games that make ya swear like a sailor---kinda like what happened in our studio Monday night.

Gosh, I hate losing to the rival Boston Celtics.  I detest even more being totally humiliated and embarrassed by those guys.

Monday night was one of those nights.

There are no excuses for allowing that team, minus two starters--Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo--to totally and utterly dominate the energy and the effort categories.

...No excuses for a team that had not played since Friday, while the Celtics were the ones on the tail end of a back-to-back.

...No excuses for Jameer Nelson to have 5 turnovers against a guy by the name of Avery Bradley, who got into Jameer's head with some intense ball pressure.

...No excuses for Ryan Anderson, who, if he wants to turn the corner and become a household name in this league, cannot ever again go O-fer the box score.

...No excuses from Dwight Howard.  Sure, D-12 had 18 points 14 rebounds.  But how many times did you see old man Garnett beat DH down the court?

...No excuse for Stan Van Gundy, who failed to stick Von Wafer, our new Mr. Instant Offense, into the game til it was, in effect, over.

...No excuse for Jason Ricahrdson, who has a tendency to disappear a little too much for my taste.

Pardon me if I left everybody out.  I didn't mean to.  Everybody on that roster was beaten like a rented mule Monday night in Boston.

I realize that we are gonna see our share of stinkers.  Monday night stunk to high heaven.  Never before had a Magic team scored less points and made less field goals than this one.

But it was more than just the dubious records that were set.  It was the lack of competitive fire.  The Magic allowed the injury-riddled Celtics to party at their expense.

I hope they are ashamed of themselves.

I also hope they are so humiliated that they go and whoop up on the Pacers tonight.
